Tips To Make Your Life
With Your New Puppy More Enjoyable

In this second part you will discover more Puppy Training Tips to help make life more enjoyable with your new puppy

Part 2

Housetraining with a Crate

Puppy training tips: #4 A good way to train the puppy is by having it Puppy Training Tipsin a crate. Don’t leave him too long (half an hour at first) before taking him outside to relieve himself. To get him used to the crate, leave it open with a toy inside. Once he goes in and out by himself you can be sure he is not afraid of it. They can even enjoy it. My two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Rag Doll cat, all love the large cloth cage I have. Rags (the cat) lies on top like a hammock. I just hope the zip holding the top flap does not break under his weight as the top has a permanent droop in it.

Biting

All puppies will bite and nip in play and you have to let him know that is not acceptable to you. Cooper and Rags play ‘wrestle’ all the time and bite each other – but never too hard. Occasionally you hear a yelp or meow – but there has never been any blood or wound.

Puppy training tips: #5 If your puppy is biting your hand, remove your hand. Stop the play and walk away. The puppy wants to ‘rough house’ it like he would do with his litter mates; just don’t encourage him and he will get the message. One day soon after we had Cooper, my hubby yelped and a spot of blood appeared on his ear lobe. My response? “What on earth were you doing with your ear in the puppy’s mouth?” You have to use your common sense and if you have children you have to teach them to be sensible too and always supervise the puppy and child, especially if the child is very young.

One of the puppy training tips to help with all behavioural problems
It does not matter whether your puppy is biting, jumping, barking etc, there is one action you can take that is simple and often very successful.

Puppy Training TipsPuppy training tips: #6 Use your hands or something like a folded newspaper in your hand and make a sudden loud bang noise with it when the puppy is doing something you don’t like. Puppies have sensitive hearing and they will suddenly stop whatever they are doing and prepare themselves for flight from the noise (this is an automatic response). Next, turn your back on the puppy and walk away. This removes the focus on the bad action and makes the puppy realise that he is not going to get any benefit from continuing his activity.

I hope these puppy training tips are of assistance. You will enjoy your puppy much more once you can stop the few annoying behaviour problems.
